On July 22, 2014, the Aim summer program went to Chroma and Grafton Ponds. On the way there the bus ride was loud and exciting. When we arrived at Chroma we got a tour from Rick Holloway. At Chroma we learned that they make and sell lenses and filters for cameras and telescopes. Chroma gave us all cool lanyards that are neon colors like the rainbow. Mr. Holloway showed us all the machines they use to make the lenses, how they are clean, and the inspection process. We saw one machine that used a laser to a put on a special coating that protected the lenses to be shipped all around the world. After an amazing tour we said thank you and got back on the bus to Grafton Pond. When we got to Grafton Pond we had a picnic that Mrs. Mitchell put together. Once we had finished all the fun began. We split into groups for swimming or hiking. A lot of the kids chose swimming because it was a hot day. There was a floating dock that was in the middle of the pond. A lot of the kids went out to the dock, and jumped off. Many of us had a fun time jumping off the dock. Margret took some kids on a hike up on a trail. When the hikers came back and the swimmers came out we all had fruit salad that we made the previous day. On the bus ride home kids were talking about how much fun they had. I hope you will go the Grafton ponds and check out Chroma.
